How to Choose a Sea-Doo or Yamaha Cold Air Intake
Compare Sea-Doo intake styles and Yamaha SHO/SVHO applications. Check your engine, connections and included parts before choosing an intake.
Start with the engine, then the intake
A cold air intake is part of the air path into the engine. The useful first comparison is the application and connection layout: Sea-Doo and Yamaha intakes are separate products, and a shared horsepower number does not make them interchangeable.
Save the exact year and model in the GT40 machine picker. Compare that selection with the product's compatibility result, then check any changes already made to the intake or engine. Factory-model fitment does not describe every modified setup.
Sea-Doo: compare the actual intake variant
The GT40 range includes a carbon-fiber coupler intake and shorty intake variants. Compare the listed part number, connection diameter, filter arrangement and available under-seat space. Choose the actual product configuration before choosing its finish or color.
The carbon-fiber coupler listing identifies a pre-filter among its supplied accessories. That does not establish the contents of a different intake kit. Read the included-parts section for the item you are ordering and ask about anything needed to connect it to your current setup.
Yamaha: SHO/SVHO is different from HO
GT40's Yamaha intake listing is for supported supercharged 1.8L SHO/SVHO applications. Its application excludes naturally aspirated 1.9L HO and TR-1 engines. A GP or FX model name by itself is not enough to select the part; use the year and engine family as well.
Prepare for installation
Before starting, compare the received part with your order and photograph the existing intake routing and connections. Obtain the instructions for that exact SKU and configuration. Photos help identify the product, but they are not a substitute for a verified procedure.
An intake, intercooler and charge-air tubing perform different jobs. Review them separately when planning a build, and confirm supporting requirements with GT40. A product choice alone does not establish a horsepower or speed gain.
