Why Your Sea-Doo Needs an Intercooler Upgrade

Factory intercooler tubing is the weak link in your supercharged Sea-Doo. Here's why upgrading it is one of the best mods you can do.

Why Your Sea-Doo Needs an Intercooler Upgrade

Every supercharged Sea-Doo has an intercooler system that cools the compressed air before it enters the engine. Cooler air = denser air = more power. But the factory intercooler system has a weak link: the tubing.

The Problem with Factory Tubing BRP uses rubber connectors and clamps that were designed to meet a price point, not maximize performance. Under boost pressure, these rubber connections expand and flex, causing boost leaks. The result is inconsistent power delivery and reduced performance.

What an Upgrade Does Replacing the factory tubing with mandrel-bent aluminum piping eliminates expansion under boost. Adding a blow-off valve (BOV) prevents compressor surge when you lift off the throttle. Together, these upgrades deliver more consistent boost pressure and 5-8 HP gains.

SuperCooler: The Next Level If you want to go further, the GT40 SuperCooler replaces the entire heat exchanger with a larger, more efficient unit. In hot conditions where the factory cooler gets heat-soaked, the SuperCooler maintains 15-20°F lower intake temps. That's the difference between full power and power fade on a hot summer day.

Bottom Line Intercooler tubing is one of the best bang-for-buck modifications on any supercharged Sea-Doo. It's a relatively easy install, works on every supercharged model from 2004 to present, and sets the foundation for future power upgrades.
